Finiliar is a collection of living NFTs that reflect cryptocurrency values through emotional states. When the market goes up, they’re cheerful. When it dips, they get a little down.
We partnered with artist Ed Fornieles and Sam Spike and the Fini team to design a mobile app that transforms complex financial data into emotionally resonant experiences—reframing market tracking as a daily interaction with a digital companion.
Challenge
How do you make decentralized finance feel less abstract and more human?
The Fini team needed a design partner to help turn a conceptual art-meets-fintech idea into a functional, engaging product. The interface had to balance playfulness with clarity, while integrating animated characters into a seamless mobile UX.
Approach
We approached the product as a living, breathing ecosystem.
Starting with UX strategy and wireframes, we explored interaction models that made checking crypto feel intuitive—more like chatting with a friend than reading a graph.
UI design focused on emotional expression: animations, transitions, and micro-interactions that brought each “Fini” to life. We also built a scalable design system to support future expansions.

Outcome
The result is a mobile platform that’s less about raw data, and more about connection. Users form a bond with their chosen Finiliar, making the app feel personal and engaging—even when the markets aren’t.
Fini has since evolved into a suite of products, and we’ve remained design partners throughout—supporting new launches, content, and feature development.

Dani and the rest of Mitimiti are exceptional designers and an absolute joy to work with. We hired them at Fini to help us visualise an early version of a unconventional financial tracking app and ended up having them design not only that entire product, but subsequently a mobile game, a messaging app, multiple website reskins, and various pieces of brand content.
